However, it is believed that Mr Jaroslav Kacmarcik ( member of the IOF technical team)pioneered orienteering in 2009 and designed 3 tracks, namely at Corps de Garde, Pamplemousses and Blue-Bay. Mr Gilbert Queland is also credited to have pioneered 'orienteering races' at Domaine de Lagrave. Orienteering was also been introduced in some secondary schools in Mauritius. World Orienteering Day 2017 On Wednesday 24th May 2017, the second World Orienteering Day took place all over the world. New countries and territories as Cambodia, Lebanon, Philippines, Kosovo, Isle of Man, Malaysia, Costa Rica,Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Mauritius, Luxembourg and Antarctica celebrated WOD for the first time. In Mauritius, Association Civique Midlands (ACM) Super-Eagles is credited to be the first official authority to hosting the first ever WOD locally. |
